International Doodle Owners Group
Doodle Owner Endorsed Breeders Guide Program has been eliminated.

Important Notice to People looking for a Great Breeder

The International Doodle Owners Group, Inc. has felt very strongly that working with doodle owners, potential doodle owners and breeders as a collective group was in the very best interest of the doodle owner community and the Labradoodles and Goldendoodles. In efforts to educate potential doodle owners there was a value of not only pointing out the “don’t do this or this” but to point them in a good direction to start their search for the right dog for their family.  The Doodle Owners Endorsed Breeders Guide (DOE) was set up to offer doodle owners the voice and to let others know that they had a good experience with a breeder and the breeder was operating their program at or above the IDOG Breeder Code of Ethics.

Also, having a rescue program within our organization we recognize that one of the very best ways to reduce rescue situations is to provide support for the breeders who are doing things right. We believe that fantastic dogs come from fantastic breeders who sell to fantastic owners. A fantastic dog that may have to be rehomed, would not end up in a shelter. There would be neighbors and friends that would be more than happy to take the dog if the family could no longer care for it. Fantastic dogs have the highest chance of being rehomed in their very community and not end up in the animal welfare system. Therefore, despite what the shelters, other rescue groups, and individuals say, I firmly believe that good breeders are not the enemy. They are partners in the success of people having great family dogs. Fantastic breeders are a valuable link in the effort to reduce the number of dogs that end up in the animal welfare system.

With that said we did have to make a decision as to how to best manage our time and efforts with all our programs. The Breeders program was determined to be the one that we would put on hold until we find the resouces of time to devote to making sure that it is the very best.

We will not stop supporting responsible breeders and being their advocates. In addition, we hope to provide the benefit of our research, training and networking by way of offering more information to owners, potential owners and to the breeder community in the near future. Not having the breeders guide does not negate the opinion that fantastic breeders are assets. We will be working to fostering good relationships with breeders by other means.
